TV Series

Since being in university I have found that I have been watching way more TV series. Back home I would watch television but I never watched anything properly from the start. Lately my favorite series is a tie between Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead. I have always been fascinated by zombies (not to mention terrified while I was younger) so a series based on zombie survival really interested me. Before starting to watch it I only assumed that it would be mindlessly killing zombies and not really have the greatest story. I was completely wrong, the characters are all unique in their own way and some of the twists literally left me thinking 'what?'. They think of pretty much every problem there would be if this apocalypse was real and make the characters go through it. The only problem I found in this series which is actually quite funny, is that all the characters somehow seem to have perfectly white glowing teeth.
Breaking Bad is a series that was highly recommended to me by a friend and once I started watching it I found myself awake at five in the morning still watching it. I thought to myself 'one more episode and I'll go to bed'. It really is that gripping. The development of the main character Walter White is very clever. He gets better and better and everything he needs whether its being aggressive, lying or even having the coldness to let somebody die because it is in his favor. It is very difficult to explain the plot in an in depth way because there is so much happening once you start to watch it, so I highly recommend watching it if you haven't already.

Music

I have always gone through different stages of what music I am listening to most. When I was very young I used to listen to what my parents listen to, which is not as bad as it sounds. While growing up I heard the likes of Pink Floyd, Queen, Bad Company and many different older bands. I remember I always used to enjoy this type of music but once people started talking about music in school, they were talking about Busted and McFly. I have to admit that I went through the stage of Busted when I was younger but I never liked McFly or even most of the others. I think I could bear Busted and listened to them because everyone else did. Then however cue my older brother, he saw what I was listening to and told me to start listening to Oasis and Blur instead. I don't like to admit it to him but he knew that I would like them, and I did. I went through lots of different indie bands and listening to their music before listening to what I am now. I'v gone further back and am now listening to old rock bands such as ACDC, The Who and Rolling Stones. Also I still love the music my parents got me into when I was young and still listen to it now.

Cardiff City FC

When I was younger I used to support Manchester United, however the only reason for this was that my father liked them. I followed him for obvious reasons but when I was seven, my Brother and my Uncle took me to Ninian Park, the old home of Cardiff City. Once I entered the ground It completely surprised me, I did not know what to expect before going in but once I seen it, I loved it. The old ground did not house as many fans as Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge, but the fans were different. Welsh fans have always been known for being extremely vocal while watching pretty much any sport and football is no exception. Ever since that day I have followed Cardiff City religiously and constantly wanted to go to the games.
My favorite player currently is Peter Whittingham, I loved how there were premiership teams who wanted to buy him but he declined, he stuck with us even though he was the highest scorer in the league one year. He tends never to have a bad game so I think its his consistency that I admire the most.

Video Gaming

Since the age of around three to four I have played video games. The first console I have ever owned was the Sega Mega Drive and the first game I have ever played was called Ristar. This game is quite important to me and occasionally I still play it. You play as a yellow star with stretchy arms and attack enemies by stretching your arms out and headbutting the opponents. I have owned a few consoles over the years and it has been interesting for me to see the change in the graphics of video games. Technology is improving rapidly in many areas and video games is easily one of them. The amount of money that goes into creating top end games such as Skyrim and Uncharted is insane to me. There are even films being made based on video games because the story, music and characters in some games means that a film would be perfect and people know the potential of the amount of money they could make.
Currently the console I use is the PlayStation 3, however a new console is due to come out within the next one or two years. My favorite current game is Skyrim, however my favorite game of all time will always be Ristar.

Ted talk

There has always been a problem with racism for as long as I have been watching football. I have found a Ted talk on the topic here. The majority of fans who attend football games are not racist, the problem is that it only takes one idiot to start something and it almost seems as though it is a social convention to join in with your fellow fans and chant obscene slurs to others just because of their ethnicity. Admittedly racism is something that was much more profound years ago, where most people simply looked the other way. Lately however there have been real consequences for fans shouting racism. Some fans have been banned from going to their own clubs ground which for any fan is a harsh but necessary. Also with some fans fines and potential jail sentences have been brought up. Lately Fifa ( the football federation) have been trying to make an example of fans who are racist to stop football racism. I completely agree with racism being out of bounds in football stadiums, however I do not agree with banning singing in grounds all together. Having banter with the other fans and singing your teams songs is the best thing about seeing your team live.
This ted talk was very interesting for me because problems with racism in football is something that I am quite familiar with and can, in some ways, relate to.

Education eye

The web 2 app that I have chosen is called 'Education eye'. I found this to be one of the better web 2 apps in regards to education. The site has lots of random information that you can find. A teacher could use the website as part of a lesson plan. One idea is for the teacher to tell the students to search the site, find something that interests them and write about it.
Teachers can use the website specifically for themselves. For example, I found one article that outlined three do's and don'ts for trans-formative teacher leadership. This can help teachers become more familiar with classroom techniques and that means a better learning experience for students.
The articles are colour coded depending on which topic they are which means that it is very easy to find specific articles.

Facebook pros and cons

Facebook is a website that has over one billion accounts. It is a social website where people can chat online with someone over the other side of the world.  It is very useful when you are trying to keep in touch with friends and family who live further away. Most people use Facebook because it is free and easy to use. There are so many people connected to Facebook that once you do, there could already be hundreds of people you know who are already connected. Many people like to use Facebook as a way to tell people how they feel, some people don't like to admit certain things in person, but online confidence can help to get things off your chest.
Having said all that there are some disadvantages of using Facebook. Some people spend way too much time using Facebook and sometimes, unbeknownst to them, they are actually addicted to using Facebook. People often cyber-bully by using Facebook. Sometimes someone can create a fake profile just to harass other people without anyone knowing that it is them. Facebook can actually be very dangerous, you should never meet up with someone who you have met through Facebook. This problem has headlined news and it is one of the most dangerous things about using Facebook.
